PhotoMidwest 2012
PhotoMidwest is a biennial celebration of the
photographic arts held in Madison, Wisconsin.
Beginning in 2000, its mission has been
to showcase both historic and contemporary
photography and photographers from the Upper
Midwest.
This year, PhotoMidwest will run from
mid-September through October. Activities will include:
- Seven States
Juried Exhibition, which is juried this
year by Sam Abell and is open to amateur and
professional photographers from Minnesota, Iowa,
Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and
Missouri
- Signs of Protest,
a juried book project open to all photographers,
designed to document the emotions and events of
the historic protests that took place in
Wisconsin starting in early 2011
- An interesting schedule of lectures and
workshops with George DeWolfe,
Ryszard Horowitz,
Kiera L. Faber, S. Gayle Stevens
- A field trip to
photograph Sandhill Cranes
- A workshop on using photographs and video for digital storytelling
- Dozens of solo and group
photography exhibits staged by photographers from the
Center for Photography at Madison at venues
throughout the Madison area
- A free Walk-in Camera
& Photo Clinic
